About Beth Chapman

Beth Chapman received her B.S. Degree in Communication Arts from the University of Montevallo and her M.A. in Education (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She completed her post graduate work with a 4.0.

She completed Princeton University’s Women Executives in State Government Management Institute, Harvard’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program and was selected as a Toll Fellow by the Council of State Governments.

She was elected State Auditor in 2002 where she served for four years producing 96% perfect audits among state agencies.

She was twice elected Secretary of State garnering more votes than any other Constitutional Officer in state history at the time and was elected by her peers as President of the National Association of Secretaries of State.

She and her staff managed the state’s two largest presidential elections at that time and successfully orchestrated the state’s first Primary Gubernatorial recount and run off.

In addition, she brought the Secretary of State’s Office into the 21st Century by putting the business services division online without increasing taxes.

Chapman has worked with every state agency and has worked as a cabinet member and Appointments Secretary for a Governor and Press Secretary for a Lt. Governor.

She has been appointed to various state boards and commissions by four different Governors.

While her party affiliation is Republican, Chapman’s service has overwhelmingly been bipartisan. She has worked well with both sides of the aisle to create and pass legislation.

Chapman has organized statewide public relations campaigns for political candidates and non-profit organizations. She is a nationally recognized, award-winning writer,  public speaker and a leading authority in the political and governmental relations arena.
