About Beth Chapman

Beth Chapman received her B.S. Degree in Communication Arts from the University of Montevallo and her M.A. in Education (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

She completed the Princeton University’s Women Executives in State Government Management Institute Program, Harvard’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program and was selected as a Toll Fellow by the Council of State Governments.

Chapman has worked with multiple governmental agencies (state and local) and has worked as a cabinet member and Appointments Secretary for a Governor and a Press Secretary for a Lt. Governor. She also served on the Alabama Board of Adjustment for 10 years.

She has been appointed to various state boards and commissions by four different Governors.

She was elected State Auditor in 2002 where she served for four years producing 96% perfect audits among state agencies.

She was twice elected Secretary of State garnering more votes than any other Constitutional Officer in state history and was elected as President of the National Association of Secretaries of State.

She and her staff managed the state’s two largest presidential elections and successfully orchestrated the state’s first Primary Gubernatorial recount and run off. In addition, she brought the Secretary of State’s Office into the 21st Century by putting the business services division online without increasing taxes.

While her party affiliation is Republican, Chapman’s service has overwhelmingly been bipartisan. She has worked well with both sides of the aisle to create and pass legislation.

Chapman has organized statewide public relations campaigns for political candidates and non-profit organizations. She is a nationally recognized, award-winning writer, a public speaker and a leading authority in the political and public relations arena.
